Dare To Stand Your Ground
In 2 Samuel 23:9-10
And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away: He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.
Another in 2 Samuel 23:11-12
And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines. But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.
Too many people constantly live life in retreat. What do I mean by this? Many people when faced with a problem will bolt, their response to a challenge is running away. It takes an extra-ordinary courage to stand your ground like these two men whose story is told in second Samuel.
In this season devoid of heroes, a season just left with people seeking to merely exist and not live life to the full may mighty people arise who will stand against injustice, stand against whatever may be coming against them.
One thing is that God blesses faith, God is a rewarder of those who walk by faith, those who dare to believe. May you stand your ground the next time you are faced with an onslaught!
