Mugabe’s Resignation: This Is The Lord’s Doing And It Is Marvelous In Our Eyes

No one would have believed that this day would come. All my life i have known no other president apart from Mugabe. I was born 8 years after independence and for 29 years have only know one President until today. The Lord has done a great work in Zimbabwe. We managed to depose a dictator in a peaceful and non violent way that has baffled all the analysts, the entire world is in shock for usually dictatorships end in a bloody and gruesome way.

The president resigned stating “My decision to resign is voluntary on my part and arises from my concern for the welfare of the people of Zimbabwe and my desire for a smooth, non-violent transfer of power,”said in a letter read out by Jacob Mudenda, the speaker of parliament. This is the same man who had declared he would rule from the wheelchair but when God’s time has come no man can stop it.

There is much i can say about the suffering we faced but today i choose not to look at that. Today i look towards the future. As a young Zimbabwean i can believe that there is a better Zimbabwe, i can now look forward to a functional economy. Its not going to be an easy ride but at least the journey has started and we know where we are going.

Mugabe’s Speech And What Is Next For Zimbabwe

It is no secret that the whole of Zimbabwe and not only us but the rest of the world were very expectant yesterday to hear a resignation speech from President Robert Mugabe.Only for them to be left confused after as no one could understand what exactly he had said. And after he said goodnight to the nation many people started asking what is next.

Regardless of him not resigning yesterday there is no doubt that this is a new season for Zimbabwe. For the first time ever people no longer fear to talk about the issues to do with the politics of this nation. And that is very important as the nation has been gripped by fear for a very long time.

What is important now is for individual to start working out how they are going to be a part of this new season. It is important not to be so engrossed in the resignation speech that you forget that even when the process is finished your success is to be based on your own individual effort. The question is this: What are you doing, what plans are you making to ensure that in the new dispensation you will have a life that is different from the life you had under the rule of Robert Mugabe

Like he said in his speech “iwe neni tine basa ” which means you and me have work to do!

#SolidarityMarch What The World Can Learn From Zimbabwe

#SolidarityMarch What The World Can Learn From Zimbabwe

Since Wednesday the 15th of November Zimbabwe went into the worldwide spotlight. News channels around the world were declaring that a coup had happened in Zimbabwe. So let me give a little background for those who might not be aware of what is going on in the African country called Zimbabwe.

On Wednesday the 15th of November in the early hours of the morning the military took control of the state broadcaster. Below is the statement they issued:

Good morning Zimbabwe.
Fellow Zimbabweans, following the address we made on 13 November 2017, which we believe our main broadcaster Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation and the Herald were directed not to publicise, the situation in our country has moved to another level.
Firstly we wish to assure our nation, His Excellency the president of the republic of Zimbabwe and commander-in-chief of the Zimbabwe defence forces, comrade RG Mugabe and his family, are safe and sound and their security is guaranteed.
We are only targeting criminals around him who are committing crimes that are causing social and economic suffering in the country in order to bring them to justice.
As soon as we have accomplished our mission we expect that the situation will return to normalcy.
To the judiciary, the measures underway are intended to ensure that as an independent arm of the state you are able to exercise your independent authority without fear of being obstructed, as has been the case with this group of individuals.
To our members of parliament, your legislative role is of paramount importance, of peace and stability in this country, and it is our desire that a dispensation is created that allows you to serve your respective political constituencies according to democratic tenets.
To the generality of the people of Zimbabwe, we urge you to remain calm and limit unnecessary movement.
However, we encourage those who are employed and those with essential business in the city to continue their normal activities as usual. Our wish is that you will enjoy your rights and freedoms and that we return our country to a dispensation that allows for investment, development and prosperity that we all fought for and for which many of our citizens paid the supreme sacrifice.
To political parties, we urge you to discourage your members from engaging in violent behaviour. To the youth, we call upon you to realise that the future of this country is yours. Do not be enticed with the dirty coins of silver, be disciplined and remain committed to the efforts and values of this great nation.
To all churches and religious organisations in Zimbabwe we call upon your congregations to pray for our country and preach the gospel of love, peace and unity and development.
To both our people and the world beyond our borders, we wish to make this abundantly clear this is not a military takeover of government.
What Zimbabwe defence forces is doing is to pacify a degenerating political, social and economic situation in our country.
(Part of the Army Statement delivered on ZBC)

Ok so now I hope those who did not know about the situation are getting to have an idea of what’s going on. Anyway so fastfoward to Saturday the 18th of November we as Zimbabweans marched out in multitudes in solidarity with the army to show the international community how we support their intervention in the crisis that is in Zimbabwe. Our crisis started way back on Black Friday 14 November 1997 when the Zimbabwe dollar lost 71.5% of its value against the US Dollar. The stock market subsequently crushed, wiping away 46% from the value of shares as investors scrambled out of the Zimbabwe dollar. Debates are inconclusive on the cause of Black Friday, or should I say the position depends on who is giving the commentary but one of the main reasons was the unbudgeted expenditure on war veterans to the controversial land reform program. Anyway why have I backtracked again. I was trying to show you that our crisis did not start now. So someone will ask if our crisis did not start now why then only 20 years later are we as a people then getting to this.

Generally Zimbabweans are a peace loving people. We love peace and are always for peace. We don’t want bloodshed. This mainly driven by the fact that a huge population identifies as Christian and we have an understanding of respecting those that are in authority. However what happened is that the President took advantage of this and started dismantling our freedoms little bit by little bit, and then drastically when MDC ( an opposition party was formed and started gaining traction ) and then with the entrance of the wife in politics this went on a whole other level of absurd proportions even to the extent of encroaching on to his own henchman’s freedoms.

Pride always comes before a fall. President Mugabe started a personality cult with his one center of power rhetoric. In biblical terms we say he made himself an idol to be worshipped by the people. But we know that God abhors idolatry as it is him that should be worshipped. He is a jealous God who will not tolerate people worshipping other Gods. Now for non-Christians they may not agree with this part but hang on for a bit, I am about to hit home.

Like Belshazzar a descendant of Nebuchadnezzar in the bible who grew so prideful that he took vessels that had been looted from the temple in Israel President Mugabe started feasting with sacred things. He started trying to privatize the nation and he was now trying to give the Presidency to his wife Grace Mugabe. Now everyone will let you know that Grace was the major reason for the downfall of Mugabe. In his pride he thought that he could sexually transmit leadership. Grace also had no restraint and started insulting people older than her and people who had fought the liberation war and had served with her husband. Just as with Belshazzar a writing appeared on the wall of Zimbabwe. A lot of people spoke and said Grace was to be the downfall of Mugabe and that she was no different from the Jezebel in the bible. The writing on the wall was clear and that’s why they started doing purges within their own party as they wanted to get rid of anyone they saw to be a threat to their ambitions.

The bible says it is God who raises and removes leaders, that he changes the times and the seasons and he rules in the affairs of men. What the world can learn from Zimbabwe is that it is a God fearing nation and as such God is working and he is going to show the world that he rules in the affairs of men. I listened to a CNN interview of Fadzai Mahere and she asked her why this coup is so polite. That actually cracked me up. Firstly lets get it straight that this is not a coup ( L.O.L the military says its not a coup anyway ), but this is an intervention where President Mugabe is just being informed that his time is up as those surrounding him had puffed him up to think he is the center of power and that only his family could take the reins after him.

The March was a success. There was no violence, there was no looting. And the international community is baffled, i think the international community was expecting us to be violent hence that CNN reporter asked such a question. Zimbabweans are a peace loving people because we are a God fearing nation!

The Word Of The Lord Concerning Zimbabwe

Thus says the Lord: What I am doing in Zimbabwe has never been seen anywhere else in the world. He says many analysts are trying to make sense of it, many of the prominent people are confounded and dumbfounded at the moment because they cannot fathom my ways. My ways are higher than your ways says the Lord. The Lord says @ this time he is raising voices, he is speaking and those who are seeking him & will listen to what the Spirit is truly saying to the churches.
Concerning the prominent voices and leaders who are silent at this time. Thus says the Lord I have dumbfounded them and they know not what is going on. Many are they that are speculating and many are they that are trying to see the future but the Lord says I have hidden it from them and will only reveal it to those who I am raising For I am raising a new generation says the Lord. I am looking for those who are seeking after me in truth and in Spirit. So many are silent at this time because I have hidden this thing from them says the Lord because it is I that doeth this and I will let no man get the glory. The glory belongs to me says the Lord, the glory belongs to me and me alone.
Once I have finished my work all will know that truly there is a Lord in heaven and he rules over the affairs of men.

#DataMustFall success and why Econet is absolutely in the wrong!

For the past three days Zimbabweans we found ourselves with the most ridiculous data prices ever. On January 11 The countries largest telecommunications company Econet was found on the wrong side of the customer as they were the first to implement a floor price from POTRAZ . Econet has since issued a statement apologizing to us customers and blaming the regulator on this whole debacle. Now from information surfacing it seems that Econet and the other telcoms companies are the ones who actually engaged POTRAZ regarding declining revenues which were, according to them, threatening industry viability and service roll out. Infact the MNOs ( Mobile Network Operators ) met prior to the issuance of this determination and proposed even higher floor prices through their collective voice, the Telecommunications Operators Association of Zimbabwe (TOAZ). I dont want to argue about who did what as i am no expert at this wholething but as an Econet subscriber i wish to highlight to Econet how they mishandled this issue and did not regard me the customer but rushed to act motivated by the  greed of immediate profit.

Now it is good to comply with the law but what was the rush? In shona we say ” usamhanye kumedza kutsenga uchada ” meaning don’t be quick to swallow whilst you still need to chew. I will tell you what the rush was for: they were eager to make a killing. It was not even about obeying the law because as i highlight below:

Econet claims they have me the customer at heart and this was all caused by the regulatory authority and yet they were charging us 5 times what the regulator had gazetted. Surely this is an indication of nothing else but greed on the part of Econet. Why did they not charge the minimum if they truly had me the customer in mind, if they felt my pain.

I woke up on January 11 just finding a new data cost structure. There was no message from Econet to at least explain that we had crossed over to a new pricing. Surely this is not a hard feat to perform. Instead they sent a message later on in the day which to me was an insult and Econet should really think twice about the messages they send. They sent the following message:

The bar has been raised #MaLevels. Get yourself the new Social Media Bundles which comes with 100% FREE Wi-Fi from as little as 50c.TO OPT OUT SMS STOP to 30440

To me this message was an insult because the bar was not raised but it was actually lowered. I used to get , 250MB for a $1, 1GB for $2 and 2GB for  $3 and now what they were now offering was way less. Surely what they should have texted was an apology and not this insult which just for me was a slap in the face.

Econets apology was put on their facebook and twitter pages. But a blunder of this magnitude surely they should text every customer. Econet does not mind bombarding us with adverts and texts that are annoying but they find it fit to just not inform the client of things that really are important to us. If they really feel our pain they should act as such by going out of their way to make ammends. I tell you the ball has been dropped and it needs to be picked up. Yes we know there are other factors at play but right now you need to show me the customer that you truly care. Oh maybe you want to keep people ignorant because truly you are not happy with your old pricing. Maybe this is not so but right now that’s how i see it.

For the past 3 days i and many other customers have been subjected to ridiculously high data tariffs and i implore with you Econet to go back to the drawing board regarding how you deal with your customers because even before this we have had issues with you about disappearing airtime, about how your customer care line is never answered and many other grievances. You are sleeping on the wheel! We all know how internet has disrupted your income model by affecting your voice call revenue. I believe these three days have revealed a lot about where your heart truly lies when it comes to your customers. I propose you have a meeting to pick up the ball that you dropped because let me tell you the ball was dropped and the damage was done. Now you need to prove to us that you truly have us at heart.Reimburse us our money or reward us with air time or data bundles for these three days we bought expensive data.

#Stunned The Olinda & Stunner Social Media Controversy. Lessons we can learn.

For the past 3 days Zimbabwe has been rocked by a domestic issue between a local celebrity and his wife. The details of this issue are not what i am going to focus on but i will talk about social media and how we cannot ignore what is going on. From the time that Facebook Live was introduced it posed another dynamic: access to real time issues as they happen. So many will say why are you doing a post on an issue that should be between two lovers? I want to say that the moment Olinda posted that live video this issue ceased to be a private matter but it got into the public domain and is now open to scrutiny from whosoever may desire.

This is the challenge of the social media age and it is not only limited to Zimbabwe, its way better in Zimbabwe. Social media has posed a lot of problems be it in the political, domestic or religious scene. So what can we learn from all this:

Facebook is a very powerful rallying tool for a cause whether good or bad

Say what you will about Olinda but she has all of the Zimbabwe & Zim diaspora community discussing right now. Also it has opened up discussions on cheating, sugar mommies, blessers and all that stuff. Whether that was her intention or not i cannot tell but she has rallied people to react to her situation with stunner. Even new words like stunnerize are now being formulated. Memmes have been created. And the controversy continues because a new twist is added everyday!

What you share on your Facebook feed can affect your reputation and that of others linked to you either for good or for bad

Facebook is this whole new cool thing that was brought to us but it also introduced its own complexities and has opened a whole can of worms concerning what is acceptable and not acceptable. And not just facebook but all of social media in general. There is a lady called Dion Chasa who found herself in H-METRO during this whole saga because she made a joke that made it seem as if she was part of this who debacle. Its cool to hop onto a trending topic but you might find yourself in the headlines for something that was just  a game to you. Facebook is now a news source and both journalists and the public are out there hunting for whats grabbing the attention of most.

Whenever you post something online you have shared it with the world

The moment you do a live video or just post a comment on Facebook or Twitter you have already shared with the world. Whether your content is authentic, or you made a lapse in judgement or you made a mistake the whole word is now privy to that post/video/picture and they are prone to interpret and comment and react as they see fit.

Privacy is now a very subjective term with the advent of technology

Recently in America a preacher and singer called Kim Burrel got in trouble for a sermon she preached in the privacy of her church concerning homosexuality. Apparently someone was not pleased and recorded a video of the sermon which was then leaked online. She later apologized stating that the message was for her church  and not the broader L.G.B.T community but the damage was already done and she was banned from appearing on Ellen de Generes show to promote a track she collaborated with Pharrell Williams called I see Victory from the soundtrack of the film Hidden Figures. What she thought was a private sermon was broadcast to the whole world and has since affected her music business and church life. She has also lost her radio show and has been uninvited to events she was supposed to sing at.I know a lot of people want to ignore technology but you might find yourself affected one of these days and its important to understand how technology is affecting the landscape today.
